Winter Shipping 2024/25

The nematodes: micro, walter , banana worms, and vinegar eels are extremely cold resistant. It takes freezing solid to kill them. Any cold short of that just puts them into a dormant state they come out of when warmed back up. Chlorella microalgae and daphnia are also cold tolerant. The guidelines here are for these cultures. Any other live order, just email me and we'll discuss it.

Receiving Your Order

You will have tracking, and someone should be present to bring the package in as soon as it arrives. If no one will be there, I will ship to any address you provide where the package can be brought in immediately on arrival. I can't guarantee a package that has sat in a freezing mailbox for hours.

Standard Shipping

This is USPS First Class Mail. Cultures are in a Tyvek liner, in a plastic poly mailer. Orders with included shipping ship this way, and it is the shipping offered in the item description. This is OK if your temperatures are a few degrees either side of freezing. I package securely, and a few degrees below freezing is unlikely freeze a culture solid if it is brought in immediately. A majority of my cultures ship this way.

Priority Mail or UPS

Similar to standard shipping in terms of being alright a few degrees either side of freezing. This is generally faster than standard shipping, though USPS doesn't guarantee it.

Priority Mail Cost = Standard Shipping Cost + $5.00

Priority Mail or UPS In Styro-Lined Box

This offers more cold protection than just Priority Mail.

Priority Mail with styro liner = Standard Shipping Cost + $6.00

Priority Mail or UPS In Styro-Lined Box w/ Heat Pack

This is the most protection I can provide. It is good to the low double digits. If temps at either end are lower and into single digits, it is smarter to wait a bit before shipping.

Priority Mail with styro liner and heat pack = Standard Shipping Cost + $7.00
