Winter Shipping Of Live Food Cultures - Updated January 2021

The nematode cultures I sell can take temperatures down to the low thirties without harm. They just go dormant until they warm back up. Only freezing solid kills them.

For all shipping methods, someone must be there to bring the package in immediately when it is delivered. If you won't be home when they are expected, let me know and I'll ship to any address where someone will be there to bring them in. All auctions come with tracking and delivery confirmation.

If you are unsure which shipping method to use please contact me ( fishguy@fishguysplace.com ) before bidding or buying. I do combine shipping costs on multiple item orders and pass that entire savings on to the buyer.

Option One - Basic Insulation - First Class Mail Shipping - Included In Purchase Price Or Specified In Auction

Cultures are put in a Tyvek wrapper, then put in the mailer. This is included free with all orders. If your temps are just a few degrees either side of freezing this works fine as long as the cultures are brought inside immediately when they arrive!

Option Two - More Insulation - Priority Mail - Styrofoam Box Liner - $5.20 Over The First Class Mail Price

Calculate your shipping cost for this option by adding $5.20 to the shipping cost given in the auction. For example, if your culture's shipping cost is $3.45, you add $5.20 to it, making your total shipping cost $8.65.

Your order ships Priority Mail in a styrofoam lined box. This is adequate if temps along the way and at the destination are not below the mid 20s and you are sure your culture will be brought straight in on delivery.

Option Three - More Insulation - Priority Mail - 40/72 Hour Heat Pack Included - $6.70 Over The First Class Mail Price.

Calculate your shipping cost for this option by adding $6.70 to the shipping cost given in the auction. For example, if your culture's shipping cost is $3.45, you add $6.70 to it, making your total shipping cost $10.15.

This is option two on steroids with a 40 or 72 hour heat pack included. This is necessary when temps along the way or at the destination are well below freezing. This package does very well in some pretty harsh weather. If temperatures are really low as in or near single digits, then you might want to consider looking for a break in the weather even with this option. Email me and we'll look at it.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have questions about this or any other aspect of my cultures or other items, and thanks for looking!
